Last September, I asked some friends and family to join me in the Storey Gallery and have their photo taken with my seascape series, Deadpan. The idea was that these volunteers would replace the gallery ‘wall’ and at the same time, be on exhibition with the seascapes. I was interested in seeing what relationships might emerge when I juxtaposed such individually distinct portraits with a series of near identical seascapes and how this, in turn, altered the way one viewed the paintings.
