Between 2012-2017 (another forthcoming 2024) I have participated in numerous hands-on human dissection workshops with the American somonaut, Gil Hedley. My original motivation for enrolling on these courses was to gain a more direct, visual, and tactile understanding of anatomy for my other professional role as a Bowen Therapist. I wanted to be able to see what I was talking about with clients in other ways than conventional anatomical language. The experience was, and continues to be profound to say the least, and has inspired drawings, soft sculptures and more recently projects combining somatic movement, dance, visual imagery and touch therapy. I want to create new anatomical models that, in turn, generate richer and more wholistic images of the body. My aim is to inspire more wonder, greater understanding and a deeper and healthier connection to the body for my audiences, clients and more broadly within the health landscape.
